With a new brand campaign in the works, Malibu-Kahlua International returned to Firstborn for an overhaul of the global website for Malibu Rum. Supporting Malibu’s vibrant new messaging and advertising, Firstborn created a site that brings a bit of the islands to the consumer’s daily life. Malibu-rum.com, truly an international experience; the site is not only available in a multitude of languages but it also provides users with local links to events and promotions in their home country thanks to a local market admin tool that Firstborn created.

My role in this project was to work with the creative team and develop a video-based storyline to transition from the main menu, a bottle floating in the ocean, and bring the viewer to the beachfront bar. I adopted the classic “Message in the Bottle” washing ashore, being clenched by an outreaching hand and brought behind the bar.

I created a shot selection for the mixology session which included a wide shot with full view of the bar and party, then cut in closer to watch the creation of the drink. I closed out each drink recipe with a nice hero shot of the finished drink, all dressed up and ready for it’s close-up.
